“Communities United for Reparations and Economic Development”

This summer, the Uhuru Movement waged a groundbreaking campaign in St. Petersburg that took the reparations demand into the electoral arena, winning broad support from white people throughout the city. Out of that campaign grew a new civic organization to continue this effort post-election, “CURED.” Candidates Jesse Nevel, Uhuru Solidarity Movement Chair and Akilé Anai, APSP Agit-Prop Director, will be joined by campaign volunteers Rose Roby, former co-chair of the Pinellas County Green Party, Gibbs High School students Lara Mustapich and Abigail Altieri and midwife Anne Hirsch, to share their stories of taking on the status quo and winning hearts and minds to change.
