On December 15, 2021, the Uhuru Solidarity Movement Midwest Region hosted Part 1 of a 2-part study discussing the book The Broken Heart of America: St Louis and the Violent History of the United States.
African People’s Solidarity Committee (APSC) Chair Penny Hess led a discussion on the book, and looking at the history of St. Louis, through the lens of African Internationalism — from the truth about the 1804 Lewis and Clark colonial expedition, to the 2014 rebellions in Ferguson after the police murder of Mike Brown, to the building of the Black Power Blueprint today.
