From Haiti to Harlem; Darfur to Detroit; West Africa to West Philly, black people are one people with their roots and history in Africa. African people everywhere face dire poverty and oppression as a result of the history of slavery and colonialism that built the wealth of Europe and the U.S.
Like Marcus Garvey in the early 20th century, the African-led Uhuru Movement is uniting African people across borders to build one united Africa, so that the vast resources of Africa - the diamonds, coltan, tungsten, aluminum, gold, oil, uranium and land - are in the hands of African people. » Read more
What our fundraising supports
The Uhuru House in St. Petersburg, FL is a working center for economic development. We are fundraising to outfit a recording studio as an institution of international African culture and to equip a commercial kitchen for community based economic development projects.
